Before you buy hosting, check whether you need it at all. Squarespace, Framer and Wix host your site for you, and static sites run free on Vercel, Netlify or GitHub Pages.
You only need separate hosting if you want to run WordPress yourself, run PHP apps, or host several sites under one account. If that's you, read on.
Start with the free 30 days: shared hosting
All three Namecheap shared hosting plans come with a 30-day free trial, one per account, and paid plans have a 30-day money-back guarantee on top. For a first website, it's the lowest-risk way to start.
If you keep it, annual or two-year billing saves up to 71% (another entry point: first-year shared hosting discount). Budget for the renewal, not the promo:
| Plan | First term (annual) | Renewal | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stellar | $2.28/mo | $5.88/mo | One or two small sites |
| Stellar Plus | $2.98/mo | $7.88/mo | Several sites, automatic backups |
| Stellar Business | $4.98/mo | $11.88/mo | Small businesses with more traffic |
Renewals run about 2.4 to 2.6 times the intro price. That's normal across the hosting industry, not a Namecheap quirk. For a blog plus a portfolio, Stellar is enough.
Domain and hosting together: the bundle
If you don't own a domain yet, the domain + hosting bundle beats buying separately (also: free domains + 50% off hosting). When this was written: 71% off shared hosting and 60% off a .com or .net for the first year, with some extensions (.org, .online and others) free for year one.
| Plan | First year | Renews at |
|---|---|---|
| Stellar | $26.88/yr | $55.88/yr |
| Stellar Plus | $34.88/yr | $85.44/yr |
| Stellar Business | $58.88/yr | $128.88/yr |
Only one domain per order gets the discount, and the bundle can't be combined with other promo codes.
Just want WordPress: EasyWP
Running WordPress yourself means handling updates, backups and security plugins, which is where most personal blogs quietly die. EasyWP is Namecheap's managed WordPress, and it handles that for you. The monthly Starter plan comes with one month free, one per household.
| Plan | First term (annual) | Renewal |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $1.99/mo | $5.74/mo |
| Turbo | $3.33/mo | $9.57/mo |
| Supersonic | $4.05/mo | $11.57/mo |
The first-term prices were a limited-time sale when checked; renewal prices are fixed. Starter covers a personal blog.
More control: VPS
A VPS is for people comfortable on the command line. Don't start here if this is your first site. Annual billing currently takes 11–23% off:
| Plan | First term (annual) | Renewal (per year) |
|---|---|---|
| Spark | $3.88/mo | $58.56 |
| Pulsar | $6.88/mo | $106.56 |
| Quasar | $12.88/mo | $190.56 |
Older banners say "up to 30% off"; the current maximum is 23%. The upside: VPS renewals rise far less than shared hosting — Spark is about $46.56 for year one and $58.56 after.
If you already have hosting elsewhere
Check your current host's renewal price before the contract ends. To switch, open the new hosting first, migrate the site, point your DNS at it, confirm everything works, and only then cancel the old plan. Cancel first and your site goes dark in between.
