About OuterNav
OuterNav is a guide to discovering useful websites from around the world. In an age of information overload and mass-produced AI content, we try websites ourselves to understand their purpose, check official documentation and availability, and write a plain-language description of what each one offers. Our guides explain their sources and limitations; we never present paid features we have not personally used as hands-on reviews. Rather than a scraped list of links, we want to be a digital guide that helps you find your way and avoid common pitfalls.
OuterNav currently lists nearly 300 websites across 19 core categories, covering everyday digital needs such as AI productivity, specialist search, video and music, developer resources, design assets, online learning, shopping, travel, remote jobs and academic research.
🛡️ Selection: Four Core Principles
A website must meet all four conditions to be included:
- Active and maintained: It must still be operating and maintained. Services that have not been updated for years or have been discontinued do not make the cut.
- Distinctive value: It should represent its niche or offer a different experience. We do not include interchangeable products that add no distinctive value.
- Indie-friendly: Ordinary individuals should be able to register and use it without business credentials, complicated approval or a high barrier to entry.
- Responsible use: We do not list piracy, cracked software, illicit services or adult content. For privacy tools such as VPNs, we explain third-party products; we do not provide connection services or instructions for unlawful use. Users must follow the laws where they live.
🔄 Updates and Maintenance
We aim to be transparent and efficient. All links and descriptions are centrally managed, and every addition or correction triggers a rebuild of the site's static pages. You can check the "last updated" date in the footer to see how current the information is.
If a website closes or changes significantly, we remove it or update its description in the next build.
⚖️ Disclaimer
Our guides primarily draw on official websites, help documentation and public terms. For prices, free allowances and restrictions, check the current official information. We use tools to help organize, translate and create visual assets during maintenance. AI-generated presentation examples illustrate a workflow; they are not screenshots of actual product output. We value first-hand experience and never pass off paid features we have not used as hands-on testing.
If you find incorrect information or labels, please report the issue or email us through Contact. We will check and correct it.
- Third-party services: This site is a directory of information about publicly accessible websites. We do not endorse their content, service quality, privacy policies or business practices.
- Changing information: Availability, pricing and regional restrictions can change at any time. Check the official website for current details before using a service.
- Advertising: We are preparing to integrate Google AdSense. Once enabled, ads will be clearly labelled and matched by the third-party platform. Advertising does not influence which websites we list or how we assess them. See the Privacy Policy for data handling and privacy choices.
- Affiliate links and site support: Some listings, including pCloud, Namecheap, Gamma and Proton products, use affiliate links. The relevant cards, sections or articles clearly identify the relationship. If you buy through a link, we may earn a commission; the actual price and terms are those shown at the seller's checkout. Promoted products may receive additional placement. Related articles explain their use cases, limits and alternatives, and affiliate relationships do not determine our assessment.
